For the last few years, Freiburg and its region have been gathering valuable experience in ecological agriculture and sustainable food production. An increasing amount of eco farms, farmers markets, cooperative and zero waste shops, organic wholesale, food coops, community-supported agriculture and a variety of cooperating eco-businesses have been providing ecological and fair food production and distribution. zusammen leben is one of these realities: an open civil society space for encounters to break down prejudices, get to know and understand each other, learn about sustainability in a trusting environment and build a foundation for peaceful coexistence by eating and gardening together in a community café or garden respectively, “zuka-solicafé” and “zusammen gärtnern”.
