Since 2023 CULTIVATE has been exploring how food sharing initiatives supporting sustainability and resilience, like community gardens, neighbourhood kitchens and surplus food redistribution organisations, can become a stronger, more connected movement.
As the project reaches its conclusion, it leaves behind more than results, creating the Food Sharing Compass platform, a lasting online resource that brings together five complementary tools designed to help municipal officers, food sharing initiatives, food supply actors, researchers and citizens navigate the expanding world of food sharing.
Whether you are new to food sharing, already working in the field, or simply interested in building more sustainable and collaborative food systems, the Compass helps you identify the resources that best match your needs and shows how they work together to support meaningful impact.
And that is what we will present and celebrate in Brussels, together with you! Throughout the day, we will introduce each of its five tools, run panel discussions to explore the ideas behind the Compass and provide hands-on workshops led by the people who developed and tested the tools to help you explore how they can be applied in your own context. From helping you understand the landscape of food sharing initiatives in a particular context, to understanding the sustainability impacts food sharing initiatives create, the event showcases the possibilities offered by this platform. So come and explore it with us!
This is not a farewell to CULTIVATE, but a handover to you: the tools, the knowledge, and the connections are now yours to carry forward.
