Organised by the Municipality of Milan in 2015, the MUFPP now unites 300 cities worldwide, making it a leading international framework for sustainable urban food policies. And it is within this framework, and specifically for the Global Forum which celebrates the 10th anniversary of this pact in Milan, that the CULTIVATE project will host two key events: its first Policy Dialogues and Marketplaces.
Here are more details:
- 13 October – Policy Dialogues (14:30 – 16:30, Cascina Triulza): a space for open exchange and consensus-building among stakeholders. It explores how Public-Private Partnerships can drive food waste reduction (MUFPP #37). Policymakers, businesses, and communities will share practices and co-develop EU-level recommendations for more sustainable urban and peri-urban food systems.
- 14 October – Marketplaces (12:00 – 15:30, University of Milano): an interactive arena where the Compass and its five tools will be presented, and Food Sharing Initiatives will showcase their work, spark inspiration, and foster collaboration.
Therefore today, on the International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Waste Reduction (29 September), CULTIVATE launches a new campaign to promote its presence within the Global Forum, highlighting how the project is addressing food waste and building resilient urban food systems. Running until World Food Day (16 October), the campaign also aims to foster collaboration and innovation to transform food loss and waste into opportunities for change.
With a focus on the Marketplace, this occasion will be an opportunity to showcase and test the CULTIVATE tools, connect with other Food Sharing Initiatives and actors within the food system, and share the vision behind the Food Sharing Compass, inviting participants to provide feedback that will guide its future development.
