CULTIVATE has released a new video tutorial introducing the Food Sharing Calculator, an interactive tool that helps users assess the costs, benefits and impacts of Food Sharing Initiatives (FSIs).
Developed within the CULTIVATE project as part of the Food Sharing Compass, the tool was created by Lund University and Trinity College Dublin in collaboration with food sharing initiatives, municipalities, researchers and other partners working closely on real-world practices.
Designed for investors, citizens and FSIs, the calculator supports evidence-based decision-making and links food sharing activities to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
From the dashboard, users can navigate three main functions: estimating costs, understanding benefits, and assessing impacts. The tool also provides real-life examples of food sharing initiatives, including operating models, funding sources and cost structures, supporting planning and benchmarking.
